Every morning,
each block tells you
what it needs

A priority for every block, from local weather and your own records — the raw Gubler-Thomas mildew index per UC IPM's published rules, BCWGC susceptibility tiers beside their published spray-interval ranges, spray protection and re-entry, and unfinished canopy work.

At harvest it turns to the fruit: what's picked, what's still hanging, and where each block stands against your own ripeness targets.

The model's number, your variety's tier, the source's interval — never blended.

Scout

Say what it is.
Then a photo, or a pin

Pick what you're looking at — powdery mildew, a broken end post, poison ivy, a gas line marker — and Scout knows what the record needs. Disease and hazards ask for a photo someone else can check later; a broken post only needs a pin, taken where you stand.

The pin sharpens while you stand still, the row comes from the block's first row drawn on the map, and if the same post was already reported a few metres away, Scout asks before counting it twice.

Switch on a layer and the vineyard answers: where the mildew was last year and this year; every post, wire and irrigation fault still open, counted by kind and block — the parts list for the crew, printed or exported; relief and frost pockets from 1 m LiDAR; and the hazards, valves and markers you've tagged.

Blocks colour by variety, soil, elevation, slope, aspect or row orientation, and any sheet prints to scale — framed around a whole vineyard or along a single drawn line.

VITISOS pulls the BC soil survey for each block you draw — soil series, texture, drainage, even soil complexes like "Debeck 60 / Haynes 40" and where a boundary crosses your block. Every soil links to a library card with its classification and the official survey sources.

Provable all season

Entry stays fast: many blocks at once, per-block coverage, pre-harvest and re-entry intervals from the real product labels — the re-entry clock counts from when you finished. The label's limits are counted against your own record: the season maximum, the minimum interval, and resistance-group rotation.

The season record gathers every application into one row, checked against the label, with anything off flagged in a banner a certifier can read at a glance — printed, or exported in certifier shape.

The record you kept all season becomes the report they ask for.

From the last sample
to the weigh ticket

Where each block stands against your own targets — Brix first, TA and pH where you pick on them — with the pace from your own samples, and no pick date guessed for you. Pick days are recorded the way the winery weighs them, with a printable tally sheet for the crew.

Fruit dropped to the ground is recorded beside the harvest — as a share of the fruit, or by weight when it was weighed — and never subtracted from what was picked. In a smoke year, one document per vineyard holds the exposure hours, the lab results, what happened to the fruit, and the insurer's decision in their own words.

Today is the day's record in a minute: the task, the blocks, the crew and their hours. The Board ticks itself from it — what's done, what's under way, and the pace in crew-hours per acre — and the week's timesheets print per person.

Unfinished canopy work flows back into the Daily Briefing, so it shows up instead of disappearing between rows.

Built by the person
who uses it

Before vines, I did machine-learning research in tech. I moved to the Okanagan and never left: vineyard assistant in the south, then the cellar up to assistant winemaker, with an organic vineyard leased along the way. Family brought me to Kelowna, where I am the viticulturist at a working estate.

When I took over these blocks, what was left behind was a map and a few soil samples. Good wine takes time, and what a vineyard teaches should not leave with the person who learned it. I decided the next one in my seat would inherit the records I never got. The first thing I did was cancel the overpriced platform we were paying for and keep better records in a spreadsheet. It was not enough. VITISOS is what came after, and it has run every day of the 2026 season here.
